Squam Art Workshops was a reprieve. From the moment I arrived, a bit late due to a delay in my travel arrangements, I was welcome with such care as Elizabeth and Lauren met me at the edge of camp and guided me to my cabin, in the dark.
My cabin was a warm room full of chattering women sitting around a fire, snacking, crocheting; a scene I quickly grew accustomed to.
I was so nervous about teaching! I had only ever taught children. But my workshops went off like a dream.
With all of my prepping ahead of time, I didn't even begin to feel ready, not really ready that is, until the moment I arrived. To my cabin mates, Heather, Kayte, Amy, Helene, Susy and Cal, it was a joy to meet all of you.
I love teaching. And I am so proud of my ladies, of the photographs they took and how excited they were to shoot film.

Remember the projects I told you about? Well I worked another all day photoshoot last week for one of them, and these are a few behind the scenes shots of our space. We had a great view of the shake shack line from up there!

In austin I found a mint vintage yashica electro 35 gsn rangefinder at uncommon objects on south congress. I'm so happy about that find..
while flying home i came across this passage reading dave eggers's the only meaning of the oil-wet water:
low-flying, quick moving clouds: I haven't long to live.
treetops, rounded and rough: That's probably true.
low-flying, quick moving clouds: I won't even make it to the sea. I can already see where I'll end.
treetops, rounded and rough: I don't know what to tell you.
low-flying, quick moving clouds: But the thing is, I really love moving like this, though I know I won't even make it.
treetops, rounded and rough: There are advantages to flight.
low-flying, quick moving clouds: But thought is its unfitting companion.
so fitting... isn't it? it was really wonderful watching the boys perform their latest in austin.

I did some running around out and about today. i had a really lovely and productive monday. i think mondays are becomming my 'get it done' days. well, except for the monday S and i were camping in wisconsin. that was the start of one of the most relaxing weeks ever. its nice to start off your week in the woods. we need to do that more often.
