This past September we took a train and ferry ride from Zagreb and ventured eastward to an island in the adriatic sea. Tomorrow, we head northward for a camping adventure and ferry ride to an island getaway on the other side of the lake. :) I love ferry rides and camping adventures. I really cannot wait to set up camp on the sandy beaches.. dive into the chilly water by day and fill my lungs with the salty, crisp lake breezes by night. I baked a lemon almond blueberry crumble, daily granola and lemon blueberry muffins along with preparing vegetables to have with a handful of our highly anticipated campfire meals. Today I will be making a hearty batch of this soup to pack in our two thermoses.. because really, there is nothing like soup when you're camping, hot or cold. This particular island only allows travel by foot. No bikes or cars allowed, which will be a wonderful departure from our bustling city life.
Above is a snap I took on film while vacationing in Komiza, Croatia this past September.
See you back in this space in about a week, friends. xx

"I can only note that the past is beautiful because one never realizes an emotion at the time. It expands later, and thus we don't have complete emotions about the present, only about the past. "

Hello there! Austin was perfect. Busying ourselves with s's performances and venturing out to see performances by forced entertainment and miguel gutierrez, it was actually a wonderfully relaxing trip.
Here is a list of a few favorite spots.. a list of must see, must eat places:
~ polvos .. a great spot for mexican food.
~ salt lick bbq .. the great salt lick.
~ woodland cafe .. i highly recommend their chocolate banana bread and chocolate cream pie. You can't really leave this place without having some pie. ;) Tyler said their pulled pork sandwich was the best he's ever had, s dived into their grilled salmon fish tacos without room for dessert and i feasted on their signature woodland salad... so good.
~ bouldin creek .. best vegetarian spot in town. I don't know how they do it.
~ jo's for migas, fresh scones, iced coffee, free wifi and a place you'll want to just sit and take in south congress for hours.
~ iron works .. i went for the ribs and i'm a vegetarian. if you don't have time to drive out to the salt lick, this is the next best place to stop for authentic texas bbq.
~ east austin .. best area of austin my opinion. so rich with character.
~ matt's garden .. an old college friend lives on holly st. in east austin and has the most incredible garden and chicken coup.
~ barton springs pool .. i made myself at home here and chatted it up with the locals. I hope the trees are saved!
~ spider house cafe .. relaxing garden patio night spot.
~ jackalope on 6th and trinity for salty lime tecate, catching up with an old friend.
~ trailer park eatery .. awesome tacos.
~ doc's .. fried pickles.. yum!
~ san jose hotel .. so gorgeous.

open studio
Above, is a window for you to peep into...taken in gradec, zagreb, croatia a few weeks ago, now... coupled with a photo I took of my favorite street in zagreb, frankopanska. I walked Frankopanska everyday from our flat to the town square and on to the market. Oh, that city...
I've been busy preparing for an open studio which will take place in my studio space next weekend, Saturday, October 11 from 4-10pm. New works will be on display so feel free to stop by to say hello!
I will leave you with this lovely video for now. (via this is a recording)

holga love
thinking and rethinking what i use to capture moments while we are in transit and i cannot help but love how my holga makes each image look so alive. we are still in the mountains, resting, hiking, eating.. loving the company and the rest. These images were taken in london last summer.

taking me back
holga film revisited. The top photo takes me back to london. Regents park film from our trip.
Oh... and something I recently read that s wrote:
"This is on my currently reading shelf, and I think as long as I stay current I will be reading this book."
i really love that little thought. it makes me smile.
